After spending most of the third book watching Jim fight his demons and cope with his situation, A Season For Slaughter gets back to the roots of the story.

This might be the most action-packed book so far, and just like everyone else, my only complaint is that Gerrold is taking more than a fair amount of time completing the series. I've enjoyed it enough even if he never finishes the series, but I have little hope that he'll be done any time soon judging by the Q&A sessions I've seen. He's not very happy to answer questions and I'm afraid he may have lost interest in this story.

it's true I've done the series 3 times the last 20 years. It's quite a volume of work. I read the series one time each decade of my adult life imagine I'll continue to try that ...had some visionary ideas
Excellent book. I ran into David Gerrold at Westercon 71 yesterday and had a nice chat. What a delight to meet the author of this beautiful work.
Great series by a great author! The next book in the series is supposed to be released within the next month and since its been almost 15 years i may need to read them again to prep for the next one
I think he went overboard with the child love part. I didn't care for that part.
Husband really likes this series and wishes that David Gerrold would hurry up and finish book #5 as my husband is 64yrs.old and would like to read #5 before it's to late.
moving and I'm putting the books in boxes and making the difficult decisions as to which books to leave behind. So, I come across this and think, "You know, I barelled through this the first time I read it. Let's read it again" So, now I'm barreling through this again! Gerrold's books in this series are hard to put down. I don't recommend you start with this book because you will lack a lot of backstory, but his CTHORR series almost deserves the perfect 5 rating. Also of interest is the MODE training described in the book, which is Gerrold's version of EST (except you are allowed to go to the bathroom.) On second reading, I can't tell if Gerrold intends the training to be taken seriously, or if it is his takeoff on NLP and other modern "technologies". Anyway--highly recommended.
