this is such a great story. as the mother of girls i particularly love these stories. baker's heroine is everything you could hope she could be; brave, loyal, smart...and relatable. she isn't perfect. she gets mad sometimes, she's a little snotty sometimes, she's not perfectly beautiful. she's like us normal girls, and yet she is the one who saves the day. she gets help from an array of friends, some even boys, but she is the one who puts it together and figures it out and pushes through to her happy endings. this is a great story of girl power without being disrespectful to boys and men. it's all about believing in the special talents we all have.Tags : The Frog Princess (Tales of the Frog Princess) [E. The Frog Princess Tales of the Frog Princess E D Baker 9781582349237 Books Reviews
I've read the entire series. I personally enjoyed it. If you like the idea of a princess who's a cursed witch and following her life and families life then this book is for you.
Hi I'm a nine year old girl and I loved this book. In fact the day I finished it it was 1135 pm when I finished. Although often I needed to tap on a word to look It up in the dictionary. Since it has a lot of hard words I say it's a good idea to buy it for a kid a little older than me. I read so long that for some reason I started sweating and had to take off my glasses. -_-
E. D. Baker has created some delightful children's novels. I discovered these when my granddaughter, 10 yesrs old, asked me to read these so we could discuss them. Of course, I was pleased with the invitation and read them immeditely. They are all imaginative, complex and absolutely enchanting. The characters are well developed and very engaging. We both had a wonderful time reading & chatting about the characters and their adventures. There are 8 books in this series and my granddaughter read each one of them without loosing interest.Tales of the Frog Princess Box Set, Books 1-3
When Princess Emeralda kisses a frog, hoping to turn the frog back into a prince, the kiss has unexpected results. Some spells backfire. Most of the novel deals with her adventures as a frog, and her attempts to get changed back into a princess. She acquires a different viewpoint on life as she talks to animals, learns to swim, eats flies (yuck!), avoids predators, and finds some unexpected allies. She even learns to like snakes, at least some snakes.
She acquires a prince in her life, although she needs to break him of some bad habits. She has assistance from her aunt Grassina, the Green Witch, and discovers she has some powers of her own. She does have a bad habit of tripping over her own feet.
I would recommend the novel for girls at the pre-teen to young teenage level.
It's a charming tale about a princess meeting a frog. Our Princess Emma, short for Emeralda, meets a frog in the swamp behind her palace who claims he is a prince (of course!). Emma doesn't quite believe Prince Eadric but due to her loneliness at the castle and considering his somewhat annoying compansionship is the best friendship she's ever had she decides to kiss him.
She kisses him and SHE turns into a frog! Stunned at first, Emma quickly likes the freedom her transformation brings her. Eadric and Emma can't figure out why the witch's curse isn't undone so they embark on a froggy adventure to find the witch.
A number of animal friends are made along the way and Baker creates a cohesive and magical world for these characters to inhabit. I went on to read three more books in this series that give Emma and Eadric a past, a future and so many adventures.
Emma is a unique sort of princess. One who is less charming and more clumsy. When she meets a frog she is met with a bizarre choice. Kiss him, or leave him. What happens next is a long and rather unexpected adventure. Will our heroine ever return to normal? All and all I quite enjoyed this book. It's unique and humorous with just the sort of grace that sets it apart from other books of the same topic. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in reading this book, to read it.
This was such a cute book. I was really impressed with the storyline and how it just pulls you in. The story is, of course, about a princess who kisses a frog claiming to be a prince - to break the spell. However, the princess then becomes a frog as well. This begins their long journey together in search for a witch that can change them both back into humans. They meet new friends and learn a little about life as their love begins to blossom for eachother. It is really an adorable witty story that had me cracking a smile and chuckling quite frequently. I would say age 8 and up is appropriate, but it is such an innocent story it could be read aloud to young ones that would take an interest.
